How to Publish a Series?
Understanding Series-Season-Episode
Publishing a series is a 3-step process. This feature is available for businesses in the Movies and Series niche. With this, you can have A series which can hold multiple Seasons, which can again hold multiple episodes. The diagram below can help you understand this multi-level categorization of content implemented by us.

Publishing a Series
To publish a series:
- Click on Series from the left navigation submenu revealed after clicking on Content
- You will land on a Series list page (just like a Movie list/Video list page) which lists already published or drafted series
- In case you are here for the first time, it will be empty and you will have to click on Create a Series
- Step 1 of 3: Creating SeriesNow you are on the Create Series page, where you will have to fill in the details about the series
- Enter name of the seriesThis will be the name shown on your video streaming app and website. Your subscribers will see only this name and not the name of the uploaded media/video file
- Enter a short description within 160 characters.This is limited at 160 characters so that the look and feel of your video streaming website and app is consistent.
- Enter a long description within 450 characters.Try to give as much information as you can so that search engines can index your page and understand what your video is about.
- Upload a Thumbnail for the series.You can add up to 4 images as Thumbnail for your Series. They will automatically slide on your app and website.
- Upload a cover image for the series.You can add up to 4 cover images.
- Upload the video trailer for the series.This video must be in MP4 format and the maximum size should not exceed 50MB. This is optional and you can skip this step in case you do not have a trailer to upload or having a trailer does not fit your requirement.
- Enter the language of the series.We have added a couple of language tags which show up when you click on the drop down. If you do not see your language their, simply type in the name of your language and click on Add. That language will be added to the video. You can add multiple language names.
- Add tags related to the series.Example: If the series is about ‘history of human beings’, you can add tags like ‘human history’ ‘evolution’ ‘history’. Basically anything that can help your subscribers to find it while searching for something related to it on your video application
- Add credits for people involved in the making of the series. This is where you can mention the actors/cinematographers etc. To add more than one person and designation, click on Add More. You can add as many people as you want.
- The next section is for anything or anyone else if you want to mention beyond credits like series rating etc. This is an optional field and you can publish without even filling this fields.
- Click on Start Adding Season when you are readyor save the series as a draft to add seasons and episodes later by clicking on Save as Draft
- Step 2 of 3: Creating SeasonOnce you click on start adding season, you land on a Season list page, where all your added seasons within the series are listed. However, for series created for the first time, you will see an empty list.
- Click on Create Season and you land on the create season page
- Give a name to this seasonThis will be the name shown on your video streaming app and website. Your subscribers will see only this name and not the name of the uploaded media/video file

- Step 3 of 3: Publishing EpisodeOnce you click on start adding episode, you land on a Episode list page, where all your added Episodes within the season within the series are listed. However, for series/season/episodes created for the first time, you will see an empty list.
- Click on Create Episode and you land on the create Episode page
- Click on ‘Select a file’ to add a video file, either from your device or from your Skara media library, to this Episode
- If you are adding a video file from your device, click on the ‘Upload media’ button.
If you already have it uploaded in your media library, just search for it or select it from the list that shows up. - When you click on ‘Upload media’, you will see a pop-up box. Click on ‘Select from device’.
- Now you can select a video file from your device’s storage to add to your episode
- The file from your device’s storage will be selected.
- Now select the resolution you want the video to be available for your subscribers. You must select at least one resolution to upload the file into your Skara business
- Once you choose one or more resolution by clicking on the tick box, click on Upload
- You will see the video/media file is uploaded, encoded and processed in our cloud services
- While uploading is in progress, kindly do not close the browser tab or the window as that can affect your video from being successfully uploaded. You can however do anything you want on the app during that time-like filling in the rest of the information, while the video is being uploaded, encoded and processed
- Once the file is uploaded, it will show up as a listed item in the Media library pop-up when you click on ‘Select a file’
- Click on the video name, to add it
- Once it is added, you will see the ‘Select a file’ button being replaced by ‘Change the file’ and an additional option to ‘Preview’ the video. Previewing can help you in case you want to double-check if you added the correct file or not
- After or during your video/media file is added to the episode, you will have to give the episode a title by filling in the Episode Name input boxThis will be the name shown on your video streaming app and website. Your subscribers will see only this name and not the name of the uploaded media/video file
- Next, fill in the short description. This is limited at 160 characters so that the look and feel of your video streaming website and app is consistent.
- Fill in the full description of the episode and try to give as much information as you can so that search engines can index your page and understand what your video is about. The character count is limited at 450.
- Now upload a Thumbnail for your episode.
- Next upload the cover image for your episode. This is the vertically laid out image which will show on the episode detail page and on the banner space of your app and website.
- Next you may upload a media file which can be trailer for your episode. This video must be in MP4 format and the maximum size should not exceed 50MB. This is optional and you can skip this step in case you do not have a trailer to upload or having a trailer does not fit your requirement.
- Now choose the language of the episode.We have added a couple of language tags which show up when you click on the drop down. If you do not see your language their, simply type in the name of your language and click on Add. That language will be added to the video. You can add multiple language names.
- Next enter tags related to your episode.Example: If the video is about ‘Development of the human brain’, you can add tags like ‘human brain’ ‘brain development’ ‘brain biology’ etc. Basically anything that can help your subscribers to find it while searching for something related to it on your video application
- In the next section, enter the credits for the people involved in or who helped your episode. This is where you can mention the actors/cinematographers etc. To add more than one person and designation, click on Add More. You can add as many people as you want.
- The next section is for anything or anyone else if you want to mention beyond credits like episode rating etc. This is an optional field and you can publish without even filling this fields.
- Now that you have filled in all necessary information, click on ‘Publish’ to make the episode available on your video streaming app or website. If you want it ready to publish but not publish it immediately, you can save the file as a draft by clicking on the ‘Save as Draft’ button.
- When you click on Publish, your episode will be immediately released on your website and app if you have launched your website and app.
